September 20 – 22, 2019 at YMCA Geneva Park, near Orillia, Ontario
You Could be Sponsored for the Ontario Nature Youth Summit!
Ontario Nature’s Youth Summit for Biodiversity brings together about 100 teens for a unique, youth-led summit that allows participants to develop an understanding of environmental issues and gain the inspiration and tools to take action and leadership in their communities and beyond. The weekend-long event includes guest speakers, workshops, and outdoor activities that appeal to a wide variety of environmental interests. (To learn more about the last year’s Youth Summit, visit the Ontario Nature website.)
The 2019 summit will take place September 20 – 22, 2019 at the YMCA Geneva Park near Orillia, Ontario. The Hamilton Naturalists’ Club (HNC) will sponsor two high school students (one boy and one girl in Grade 9 – 12) from Hamilton/Burlington for the event. This means the HNC will pay the sponsored student’s $350 full cost for participation, including workshops, accommodation, and meals. The student or their family will only be responsible for the student’s transportation to Orillia. There will be a free round-trip charter bus available from a central location in Toronto.
To apply for this sponsorship, please send a letter or e-mail to HNC Treasurer, Jim Stollard, that includes the following:
– Your name, address, high school grade, age, phone number, and e-mail address
– A short list of your interests in nature and the environment (maximum 75 words).
Send letters to the Hamilton Naturalists’ Club, Treasurer, P.O. Box 89052, Hamilton ON L8S 4R5 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The deadline for submitting applications is June 30, 2019. All applicants will be notified in early July 2019, regardless of whether or not they are chosen for the sponsorship.
