This is a work in progress! Ideally, someday, this information will all reside in a database which can be downloaded, have public suggestions made, links to Google Maps, and links to eBird Hotspots. For now this is one big web page though.
Locations:
5th Road, Saltfleet Township — Fields along this road often flood in spring, allowing for views of shorebirds and waterfowl.
10th Road, Saltfleet Township — A hotbed of bird activity, especially in winter months and during migrations.
87 Acre Park, Stoney Creek — see Vinemount Quarries
Albion Falls — see Red Hill Creek
Arboretum (Royal Botanical Gardens) — 16 Old Guelph Rd. Hamilton. The Arboretum is the north side access to the Cootes Paradise Sanctuary and hosts the Nature Interpretive Center as well as access to multiple trails and lookouts over Cootes Paradise Marsh (Paid Parking or RBG membership).
Audrey Nicolson Management Area, Dundas (Conservation Halton) — From Dundas take York Road to Valley Road, then turn onto Patterson Road, and at Wesley Avenue drive to the dead end and park there. Trails are quite overgrown and rutted, most are old road allowances.
Bayfront Park/Pier 4 Park, Hamilton — take Bay St. north from Main St. W. or King St. W. to Harbourfront Drive. Pier 4 Park begins further north along Bay. St.
Burlington Canal, Burlington/Hamilton border – QEW to Eastport Drive (from Hamilton take Exit 97 and follow Eastport Drive over lift bridge, from Niagara take Exit 93 and follow Eastport to bridge); park at lighthouse or on lake side of Eastport, east of bridge.
Beamer Memorial Conservation Area (Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority) — QEW to Exit 71 in Grimsby; follow Christie St./Mountain St. (Reg Rd. 12) up the escarpment. At crest of hill, opposite the Eastern Rite church, take Ridge Rd. West (Reg.Rd. 79) 2.4 km. to Quarry Rd., follow signs. Alternate directions: If travelling from west of Hamilton, eg. London or Kitchener, take Hwy. 403 to Lincoln Alexander Parkway in Ancaster, take The Linc east to its end at Mud St., follow Mud St. across Hwy. 20 all the way to Woolverton Rd. (approx. 20km), turn left (north) on Woolverton to Ridge Rd. W., then go right (east) approx 2.0km on Ridge Rd. to Quarry Rd.
Berry Tract, Dundas (Royal Botanical Gardens) — roadside pull-off Dundas at Valley Rd/Patterson Rd intersection. Trail entrance 100m east along Patterson Rd, contains the Bruce Trail and Thornapple Trail and is contiguous with the Cartwright Property.
Billy Monkley Bird Sanctuary, Hamilton — parking off Dartnall Road south of Stone Church Road.
Binbrook Conservation Area — see Lake Niapenco
Beverly Swamp, Flamborough Township (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — Take Regional Road 8 West to Valens Rd., north to 8th Concession Rd., then east about 1.6 km. Parking area is just east of power lines.
Beverly Swamp Conservation Area, Flamborough Township (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — 1477 Safari Road, between Westover Rd and Valens Rd. Please be warned that unlike most conservation areas, the HCA does allow hunting on this property.
Borer’s Falls Conservation Area, 450 York Rd. Dundas (Hamilton Conservation Authority) – From Hwy #6 North take York Rd exit west.
Brant Conservation Area, Brantford (Grand River Conservation Authority) — Follow signs from Highway 53 to Oakhill Drive to 119 Jennings Road. Park fee required.
Bronte Harbour, Oakville — QEW Exit 111 to Bronte Rd., east to Lake Ontario end of Bronte Rd. (former Hwy. 25) across Lakeshore Blvd. in Oakville.
Bronte Provincial Park, Oakville (fee) — QEW Exit 109 to Burloak Rd., west 200 m. to park entrance.
Bronte Woods, Oakville — see Shell Park
Burlington Heights, 900 York Blvd. Hamilton (Royal Botanical Gardens) — viewing areas on York Blvd., 1.5 km. north of Dundurn Castle (follow signs for Royal Botanical Gardens; limited parking at monuments, parking also at the Rock Garden).
Cartwright Nature Sanctuary, Dundas (Hamilton Naturalists’ Club / Conservation Halton) — see directions for Berry Tract, follow Thornapple Loop Trail to the Bruce W. Duncan Memorial Trail to enter the property.
Caledonia — on Hwy. 6, south of Hamilton.
CCIW (Canadian Centre for Inland Waters), Burlington — Also known as Northeast Shore on interpretive signs. Nesting colonies for terns and cormorants in Hamilton Harbour. Enter at junction of Lakeshore Road and Eastport Drive.
Chedoke Creek, Hamilton — Aberdeen Ave. to Chedoke St., up hill to Hillcrest Ave., turn left to park.
Chippewa Rail Trail, Glanbrook & Haldimand County (Hamilton Conservation Authority & Haldimand County) — Former Georgia-Pacific Rail line, runs from Hamilton to Caledonia. Starts at Dartnall Road next to the Billy Monkley Bird Sanctuary, ends in Caledonia, and can be entered at any crossing but only some have parking available.
Christie Conservation Area & Christie Wildlife Area, Flamborough Township (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — on Hwy. 5 west of Hwy. 6 and Brock Rd., follow signs (fee). Parking for Wildlife Area exists on Middletown Road, between Hwy. 5 and Regional Road 8, on the west side of the road north of the bridge (valid pass required).
City View Park, Burlington (municipal) From Hwy 5 turn down Kerns Road, multiple entrances. Follow Bruce Trail blue trail to open fields where many less common sparrow species are often found.
Clappison Woods / Clappison Pond, Waterdown (Municipal, Conservation Halton, Bruce Trail Conservancy) also known as RONA Ponds. Stormwater pond and woodlands with trails. Park at Walmart and walk behind to find trails. Alternatively, park at the dead end of Old Guelph Road (where it used to meet Hwy 6) and hike Bruce Trail in.
Coldspring Valley (McMaster University) — former RBG Sanctuary, now the West Campus of McMaster. Some habitat still remains, and restoration work of Coldwater Creek is currently underway. Parking fee is charged, some trails still present.
Confederation Park, Hamilton (Hamilton Conservation Authority) — Two parking areas. One, just off Van Wagner’s Beach Road just past Barangas at the Beach. The second is at Grey’s Road, park on the road just north of Frances Avenue.
Cootes Paradise Sanctuary Many access points, see Arboretum, Nature Interpretive Center, South Shore Trails, Princess Point, and Spencer Creek Trail.
Currie Tract — see Halton Regional Forest Complex.
Delsey Wetlands / Lake Jojo, Dundas — Near the Desjardins Canal, park at Volunteer Field, and hike past the ball field to the stormwater pond. Hidden trails lead along stream to Lake Jojo, a portion of Cootes Paradise severed from the wetland long ago. Alternatively park at Olympic Park (opposite the arena) and hike old trail along Lake Jojo.
Desjardins Canal, 180 King St. E Dundas — from Cootes Dr. go north on Olympic Dr., go 100 m. on Olympic, turn left on King St. to parking area.
Dofasco Trail, Saltfleet Township (Hamilton Conservation Authority & Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority) — Trail follows old Concession 4 road allowance of Saltfleet Township. Also passes through Devil’s Punch Bowl Conservation Area and Vinemount Conservation Area. Parking available at various roads that intersect, including Ridge Road, First Road E, Second Road E, 3rd Road E, Tapleytown Road, 5th Road, 8th Road, 10th Road, and 11th Road.
Dundas Valley Trail Centre (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — Main St. W./Osler Dr. from Hamilton to Dundas, at intersection at bottom of hill turn left (west) off Osler onto Governor’s Rd. (Reg. Rd. 399/99, former Hwy. 99) and go approx. 5 km. west, follow signs. (fee).
Edgelake Park, Stoney Creek (municipal) — Along the south side of Church Street, Stoney Creek. Take North Service Road to Teal Avenue, to Church Street.
Eramosa Karst Conservation Area, Stoney Creek (Hamilton Conservation Authority) — One of Hamilton’s newest conservation areas. From Hamilton take Stone Church Road to Stoney Creek, and at the junction with Mt Albion Road, turn right (south). Conservation area parking is on the left. (Parking fee or HCA Pass required)
Fallsview Road / Dyment’s Farm, Dundas — This road often has Snow Buntings and companion species in the winter. From Dundas take Sydenham Road up the escarpment and at the second intersection turn left. The first farm on the right is where they are often sighted.
Fifty Point Conservation Area, Winona (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — QEW Exit 78 to Fifty Rd., north to North Service Rd., follow signs (fee during most of year).
Foxden Road Trail, Troy, Flamborough (road allowance) — In Troy, park along Troy Road anywhere near Foxden Road. Follow Foxden Road past the dead end, old road continues to Concession 2 W. No entrance from Concession 2 W, fenced off.
Fletcher Creek Ecological Preserve, Puslinch Township (Hamilton Conservation Authority) Parking on on east side of Concession 7 just north of Gore Road. Also a couple parking spots on Gore Road just east of Lennon Road.
Gray’s Road/Green Road, Stoney Creek — QEW Exit 88 to Centennial Parkway (Hwy. 20), north to lake side of QEW, follow North Service Rd. east past Confederation Park, turn toward lake at main streets which intersect it. Gray’s Rd. is first east of park.
Grindstone Creek — see Valley Inn or Hendrie Valley
Grindstone Woods, Burlington (Conservation Halton / Bruce Trail Conservancy) — From Hwy. 6 take Old York Road east to Snake Road. Take Snake Road north until the Bruce Trail signs. Grindstone Woods is on the right (east).
Hagersville — on Hwy. 6, south of Hamilton.
Hagersville Recyling (junkyard) — on Reg. Rd. 20 (Indian Line) approx. 4 km. east of Hagersville traffic light at Hwy. 6.
Halton Regional Forest Complex, Halton Region (Conservation Halton)
Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail – (Hamilton Conservation Authority & Grand River Conservation Authority) — 32 km trail that passes through many good birding spots.
Hamilton Harbour — see Bayfront Park
Hardy Road Trails, Brantford (Grand River Conservation Authority) — A number of trails along the Grand River. Parking at approximately 260 Hardy Road.
Hendrie Valley, 1104 Plains Rd. West Burlington (Royal Botanical Gardens), across from Royal Botanical Gardens Headquarters.
High Level Bridge — see Burlington Heights.
Hilton Falls Conservation Area, Campbellville (Conservation Halton) — 4985 Campbellville Rd, parking fee charged.
Hopkins Woods Special Protection Area (Royal Botanical Gardens) — core protection area of the Cootes Paradise Sanctuary, no interior trails. Multiple perimeter viewpoints, see Arboretum, Spencer Creek Trail or South Shore Trails.
HRCA Resource Centre (Maplewood), Ancaster (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — Closed in 1996. Building torn down in 2014 and parking removed.
Hyde Tract, Flamborough Township — (Ministry of Natural Resources forest) follow signs for African Lion Safari along Hwy. 8 west to Regional Rd. 552, north to Safari Rd., east (away from the Safari park) about 1 km., parking on right. Please be aware this MNR Tract allows hunting.
Hydro Pond — see West Pond.
Iroquoia Heights Conservation Area, Hamilton/Ancaster (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — Access near Scenic Drive and Chateau Court at edge of escarpment, or near the dead-end of Old Mohawk Road in Ancaster. No fees.
Kerncliff Park, Burlington (Conservation Halton) — From Burlington take North Service Road west, then turn at Kerns Road. Park entrance is just before the road climbs the escarpment.
King’s Forest, Hamilton — see Red Hill Creek
Kitchens Road Trail, Copetown (road allowance) — From Dundas take Governor’s Road west. After Copetown, park at the T-junction of Orkney Road. The closed road heading south is formerly Kitchens Road, which can be hiked to Powerline Road. You can also park at Powerline Road, though there is less room to do so.
Lake Niapenco, Glanbrook Township (part of Binbrook Conservation Area) — go south on Hwy. 6 from Mount Hope (Hamilton Airport) to Chippewa Rd., turn left (east) and follow signs. There is access to the west end of Lake Niapenco from a parking lot on Tyneside Rd., about .5 km south of Chippewa Rd.
Laking Garden (Royal Botanical Gardens) — 1221 Plains Rd Burlington. Includes views of
Grindstone Marsh, as well as access to Valley Inn and trails in Hendrie Valley.
Lafarge Trail, Flamborough (Hamilton Conservation Authority) — Non-continuous trail that fills in between old sections of Middletown Road. Passes through significant portions of the Beverly Swamp.
LaSalle Marina/Park, Aldershot — Hwy. 403 from Hamilton to Toronto or Plains Rd. (Burlington) northeast to Waterdown Rd. / LaSalle Park Rd., right (east) to end of LaSalle Park Rd. at Hamilton Harbour. Can also be reached by taking North Shore Blvd. southwest along Hamilton Harbour from QEW Exit 97.
Martin Road/Spring Valley, Ancaster (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — Hwy. 403 west to Fiddler’s Green Rd., left (north) on Fiddler’s Green to T- intersection at Jerseyville Rd., left (west) on Jerseyville Rd. Spring Valley is about 2 km. at bottom of hill (Lion’s Club Pool and parking area on right); Martin Road is another 1 km. further, take first right after Ancaster High School at Morgan Firestone Community Centre, go down steep hill.
McCormack Trail, Dundas (Hamilton Conservation Authority) Park at end of farm laneway on Governor’s Road just west of the DVCA main entrance. The laneway is the trail for a while, and two main loops exist, one is sometimes closed depending on farm activities. Small pond off the laneway up the hill sometimes has Wood Ducks.
McMaster Conservation Corridor / Mac Forest, Ancaster (McMaster University research space) — from Hamilton take Main Street West towards Ancaster until it becomes Wilson Street, then take Lower Lion’s Club Road at the bend. 100m in, park on the north side of the road.
Meister Tract, Flamborough (Grand River Conservation Authority) — North of Lockie Road / Concession 6 W on Sager Road. Full loop trail.
Merrick Field Centre / Merrick Orchard, Ancaster (Hamilton Region Conservation Area) — Closed in 1996. This old orchard is still accessible by parking at the dead end of Lion’s Club Road and hiking in on the Merrick Lane trail.
Mount Albion Conservation Area (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — south side of Mountain Brow Blvd. at junction with Mud St. Parking at Albion Falls (see Red Hill Creek and Valley). Also see Billy Monkley Bird Sanctuary.
Mountsberg Conservation Area (Conservation Halton) — Hwy. 6 north to Regional Rd. 518, turn right, follow signs. Also home of Mountsberg Centre For Birds of Prey.
Nature Interpretive Centre (Royal Botanical Gardens) — 16 Old Guelph Rd. Hamilton – follow signs for Arboretum and Nature Centre (Paid parking or RBG membership). Good birding trails for waterfowl including Captain Cootes Trail and Marsh Walk (follow signs). There are three lookouts towers – Bulls Point lookout, George North Lookout and Marsh walk Lookout. For woodland birds visit Grey Doe Trail through the interior forest.
North Shore Trails — see Arboretum or Nature Interpretive Centre.
Old Westover Road Tract, Flamborough (Hamilton Conservation Authority) — Old closed section of Westover Road from Concession 3W and Westover Road T-junction. Take trail south to the creek. Creek is shallow so with proper gear one can cross the creek to other side.
Olympic Sports Park, Dundas (City of Hamilton) — 70 Olympic Drive Dundas. Soccer fields and Hydro Corridor Meodow with informal overlooks of West Pond and Borers Creek. Please do not trespass onto the Royal Botanical Gardens property which contains no public trails and is part of the core wildlife protection area of Cootes Paradise Sanctuary, the Hopkins Woods Special Protection Area.
Paletta Lakeshore Park, Burlington — see Shoreacres

Princess Point Park (Royal Botanical Gardens) — 335 Longwood Rd Hamilton, South east corner of Cootes Paradise Nature Reserve, multiple trails as well as canoe/Kayak access to Cootes Paradise Marsh; from Main St. W. or King St. W. (just west of Hwy. 403 overpass) turn north on Macklin St. (Paid Parking or RBG membership).
Red Hill Creek and Valley – Starting from the North (Lake Ontario) end:
Parking at Hutch’s Restaurant for Van Wagner’s Ponds (which see) and on Eastport Drive for end of Red Hill Creek.
Parking along the eastern end of Brampton St.(beside the water and sewage treatment plant) for Red Hill Marsh and lower creek.
Parking in Red Hill Bowl parking lot (south-west corner of King Street and Lawrence Road) for central valley.
Rosedale Arena parking lot and behind Rosedale Arena (Greenhill Ave. and Rosseau Rd.) along the creek for lower King’s Forest. e) Small parking area on Mt. Albion Road just north of (below) the escarpment for central King’s Forest.
Three lots on the mountain (escarpment) for upper King’s Forest:
Mud St., just west of Mt. Albion Rd.,
junction of Mud St. and Mountain Brow Blvd. (at Albion Falls), and Mountain Brow Blvd., just west of junction with Mud St.
Rock Chapel Sanctuary — 318 Rock Chapel Rd. Flamborough, multiple trails along the Escarpment (Paid Parking or RBG membership).
Rock Garden (Royal Botanical Gardens) — 1100 York Blvd. Also access for Burlington Heights area and views of Hamilton Harbour and Cootes Paradise. Excellent location for raptors as well as aerial insectivores. (Paid Admission to garden or RBG membership).
Rockcliffe Trails, Waterdown (Conservation Halton) 73 Rockcliffe Road, numerous trails, connects to Clappison Woods.
Royal Botanical Gardens Headquarters, 680 Plains Rd. W., Burlington — From Hamilton follow York Blvd. past Dundurn Castle and over High Level Bridge. York Blvd. becomes Plains Rd. W. From Hwy. 403 take Hwy. 6 exit (to Guelph), and follow signs. Access here to major gardens, Hendrie Valley and Grindstone Creek.
Ruthven Park, Haldimand County — National Historic Site and Bird Banding station. Address is 243 Haldimand Hwy. #54.
Safari Road Marsh, Flamborough — Between Kirkwall Road and Westover Road, marsh is on both sides of the road. Parking is sparse, and there is not enough room at the marsh. Park on the side of the road on either side of the marsh, or at Hyde Tract up the road and hike down.
Sayers Park, Stoney Creek — see Gray’s Road. Turn right off Gray’s onto Lakegate Dr., go 100m. NOTE parking restrictions!
Shade’s Mill Conservation Area, Cambridge (Grand River Conservation Authority) 412 Avenue Road, east of Franklin Boulevard. Fee required.
Shaw Tract, Flamborough (Ministry of Natural Resources crown land) Very small parking spot, just north of Transcanada facility on Valens Road north of Safari Road. Be aware this is crown land where hunting is legal.
Shell Park, Oakville — on Lakeshore Rd. (former Hwy. 2) between Burloak Rd. and Bronte Rd. (look for oil refinery). From parking lot trails go north and east-west along pipeline right-of-way into area also known as Bronte Woods.
Shoreacres/Paletta Lakeshore Park, Burlington — on Lakeshore Rd. (former Hwy. 2) between Walker’s Line and Appleby Line, just northeast of Shoreacres Dr.
Sioux Lookout, Burlington — on Lakeshore Rd. (former Hwy. 2) between Guelph Line and Walker’s Line.
Skunk’s Misery, Ancaster (Hamilton Conservation Authority) West end of Dundas Valley CA, referenced many times in the Birds of Hamilton book. Park at end of Powerline Road E, Ancaster, or near the tower at Paddy Greene Road (no winter maintenance).
Slote Marsh, Ancaster (Hamilton Conservation Authority) — park along Slote Road at junction of Mineral Springs Road. Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail also intersects, and a very old and overgrown “Old Mineral Springs Road Trail” can also be hiked here to dead end of Mineral Springs Road on the other side.
Slote Tract, Ancaster (Hamilton Conservation Authority) — approximately 911 Powerline Road E, Ancaster. No signage on road.
South Shore Trails, 80 Oak Knoll, Hamilton — Multiple trails connecting to McMaster and Princess Point, with lookouts to Cootes Paradise Marsh, From King St. W in Westdale, turn north on Marion Ave take the curve left and Park at the Aviary (Teaching Garden) parking lot on your right and follow the signs. (Paid parking or RBG membership).
Spencer Creek Delta Special Protection Area (Royal Botanical Gardens) — core protection area of the Cootes Paradise Sanctuary, no interior trails. Multiple perimeter viewpoints, see Arboretum, Spencer Creek Trail or South Shore Trails. Also viewed by canoe/Kayak lauched from Cootes Drive at Spencer Creek or Princess Point.
Spencer Creek Trail, Dundas — Trail is non-continuous, multiple access points. Mill Street Section: Park along Mill Street, trail runs beside Mill Street and loops over into the wooded area across the creek. Downtown/Chegwin Park section: Park along road where Chegwin Street and Central Park Avenue meet. Eastern/Rotary section: Former Dundas & Hamilton Rail line, park across from Canadian Tire, trail runs to Cootes Drive. Royal Botanical Gardens Cootes Paradise Nature Reserve Section: Parking on Cootes Drive west side, Hamilton-bound by the creek bridge, and cross Cootes Drive or walk under the bridge.
Spencer Smith Park, Burlington — QEW Exit 97 to North Shore Blvd., about 1 km. northeast of QEW on North Shore Blvd./Lakeshore Rd. past Joseph Brant Hospital on Lake Ontario.
Spencer Woods, Dundas (Hamilton Conservation Authority) — At Cootes Drive, take Reg. Road 99 (Dundas St) to Thorpe, go across bridge to Meadow Lane, park at dead end. Trails lead along Spencer Creek and past some marshland.
Spring Valley, Ancaster — see Martin Rd.
Sulphur Creek Trail, Dundas (Hamilton Conservation Authority) — From Dundas take Old Ancaster Road to Turnbull Road, and park at the dead end. Trail starts here.
Summit Muskeg Preserve, Copetown (Hamilton Conservation Authority) — Parking lots at junction of Powerline Road and Trinity Road south of Copetown. Take Hamilton-Brantford Rail Trail east to observation platform at Summit Station to view the muskeg.
Taquanyah Conservation Area (Grand River Conservation Authority) — Hwy. 6 south to Caledonia, Reg. Rd. 54/Hwy. 54 east to Cayuga, Hwy. 3 west about 3 km, follow signs.
Tollgate Ponds – on Eastport Dr., east of lift bridge on city side of Hamilton Harbour at base of Skyway Bridge.
Travelodge Hotel, Burlington (formerly Venture Inn) — on Lake Ontario at intersection of Brant St. and Lakeshore Rd., at opposite end of Spencer Smith Park from hospital.
Valens Conservation Area (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — follow directions for Beverly Swamp, continue north on Valens Rd. to Reg. Rd. 97 and follow signs.
Valley Inn, 1200 Spring Garden Rd., parking is available at City of Burlington Parkette and RBG Laking Garden. From Hamilton, follow York Blvd to Plains Rd, and then Spring Garden Rd by RBG Centre. From Burlington, follow directions to Woodland cemetery, instead of turning into the cemetery continue down Spring Garden Rd.
Van Wagner’s Beach & Ponds — Eastport Dr. to Beach Blvd. to Van Wagner’s Beach Rd. (follow signs for Confederation Park), or QEW Exit 88 to Centennial Parkway (Hwy. 20, Stoney Creek) to Van Wagner’s Beach Rd. then west (toward Skyway Bridge). Park near Hutch’s Restaurant.
Venture Inn, Burlington — see Travelodge Hotel
Vinemount Quarries, Stoney Creek — abandoned quarry east of Tenth Rd. E. within 87 Acre Park. Take Hwy. 20 (Centennial Parkway) to Mud St., turn east on Mud to Tenth Rd E. turn north (left) to Green Mountain Rd., then right (east) to abandoned quarry on left. Alternate route: QEW to Fifty Rd, Fifty Rd. south to top of escarpment (where it becomes 11th Rd. East after stop sign at Ridge Rd. W.), continue south on 11th Rd. E. to and around 90 bend at Green Mountain Rd., stay on Green Mountain Rd. for another 300 m.
Urquhart Butterfly Garden, Dundas — Parking just off King Street next to Hamilton Airforce Club.
Warren Park, Dundas (municipal, Hamilton Conservation Authority) — from Dundas take Governor’s Road to Tally Ho (street), and follow until you reach its junction with Lantern Lane. Across from Lantern Lane is the entrance.
Waterdown North Wetland Trails / Joe Sams Leisure Park, Waterdown. From south end park on Victoria Street, trail begins at Parkside Drive. From the north end, park at Joe Sams Leisure Park along Centre Road.
Westfield Heritage Village / Conservation Area (Hamilton Region Conservation Authority) — follow directions for Hyde Tract, village is on Reg. Rd. 552 just south of Con. 6.
Westover Tract, Flamborough — Take Concession Road 6 W west of Westover, park where the powerlines pass over. Trail leads north, narrow public tract.
West Pond (Royal Botanical Gardens) — via Spencer Creek Trail access from Cootes Drive Hamilton, parking in east bound lanes by the creek bridge. Hike to lookout hill near end of the trail, about 400m in. Views of West Pond also possible from Olympic Arena location.
Windermere Basin — on Eastport Dr., east of Tollgate Ponds. Parking lot is just before Woodward Ave / Beach Blvd intersection on south side. Pier 25 gate access no longer accessible.
Woodland Cemetery — Gardens Rd., behind Royal Botanical Gardens Headquarters. Drive past cemetery buildings into cemetery, bear left (south) toward Hamilton Harbour.
